It’s that time again, and if you planned right, you’re expecting a tax refund this year. It’s now easy to get up-to-date refund information from the IRS by using their online service Where’s My Refund? or IRS2GO, their multi-purpose mobile app. According to the IRS, your refund status is updated once every 24 hours, usually overnight.
The Where’s My Refund? Webpage has been around for some time, but the new mobile app, IRS2GO, is available for both Android and iPhones. The language, English or Spanish, is automatically determined by the phone language. IRS2GO masks and encrypts your Social Security number for safety. All you have to do is enter your Social Security number, filing status, and the amount of your expected refund. A status tracker has been added so you can see where your tax return is in the process. If you filed your return electronically, you can check your refund status within 24 hours from the IRS acknowledgement. If you file a paper tax return, you will need to wait about four weeks to check your refund status.Details
